BIOGRAPHY

Bianca began her career as a health care professional after her matriculation at New York University when she entered the Physiotherapie Department of the Hanzehogeschool van Groningen in the Netherlands in 1994. She was exposed to a European holistic health care model that would eventually shape her mindset and intentions of practice to incorporate a mind-body-spirit approach to her clinical and life goals. She studied a style of Physical Therapy that focused on manual skills in which she first-handedly learned and experienced the profound effects of the power of human touch.

After graduating and returning to her native country of the United States, she joined the Rehabilitation team at Bellevue Hospital in New York City in which she experienced a myriad of clinical cases including prison psychiatry, Traumatic Brain injuries, Orthopedic surgeries, Neonatal Intensive care, Pre-natal care, wound care and treatment of the Neurologically impaired. Throughout all of these challenges, Bianca developed not just superb clinic skills, but compassion, empathy and admiration for the power of the human spirit.

She continued her journey into Orthopedic out patient rehabilitation at Lower Manhattan Physical Therapy, P.C. (LMPT) where she honed her skills as a manual therapist. She subsequently became interested in well women pre-natal care where she started a “Mom’s In Motion” Yoga inspired movement and stabilization class.

During her time at LMPT, she was exposed to acupuncture through a patient who was utilizing both modalities of P.T. and Acupuncture for a neck condition that they had in common. Bianca had been having symptoms of neck pain combined with arm numbness and weakness due to the repetitive straining motions of being a body worker and triathlete. At this time, Bianca began to research the validity of Acupuncture and found the philosophy of Eastern medicine to be the missing link and her path changed profoundly with the resolution of her injury after one visit to an acupuncturist.

Bianca enrolled into the Master’s Program of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Tri State College of Acupuncture (TSCA) in New York City. She chose this school over the many others because of its eclectic approach to teaching and its unique curriculum involving a style of acupuncture that focuses on the muscular system through a classical meridian filter. This “style” resonated beautifully with her knowledge and understanding of human anatomy.

She began her studies at TSCA on September 10, 2001. Little did she know that her life was about to change drastically just 12 hours later. Since LMPT is located in the financial district with one of their satellite offices located at the Mariott WTC, Bianca unfortunately experienced tragedy beyond comprehension on the day that New Yorkers will forever remember.

Her own journey of healing emotionally was filled with a strong support system that encouraged growth out of chaos. However, her metamorphosis came after being guided through a Five Element Acupuncture treatment in which she was reacquainted with the power of her own human stability and strength. (The logo design on her web page and business card came from this very experience… ask her about it! )
